Sample Tekla Interview Questions & Answers
Tekla Structures is an advanced BIM software used for 3D structural modelling and detailing of steel, concrete and timber structures. It produces fabrication drawings, material reports and NC files for manufacturing.
A grid is a 3D reference system (X, Y, Z axes) used to position structural members accurately in the model. Grids can be rectangular, radial or skewed.
A part is a single structural element (beam, column, plate). An assembly is a group of parts connected together (e.g. a welded bracket), treated as one unit for fabrication.
IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is an open data format for BIM collaboration. Tekla can import/export IFC files to share models with Revit, ArchiCAD and other tools without data loss.
Clash checking (interference check) detects physical overlaps between model objects. Tekla highlights clashing parts so they can be corrected before fabrication drawings are issued.
NC files are generated from the Drawing & Reports menu. They contain machine-readable cutting and drilling data for CNC machines, produced for each steel part automatically from the 3D model.
